The Illumination Foundation is currently seeking an entry-level Children's Resource Center Aide to assist with the execution of community based programming for low-income and homeless children at our Children's Resource Center in Santa Ana and Anaheim, CA. The Children's Resource Center is located directly in an underserved neighborhood.

The primary role of this position is to assist with the administration of the Illumination Foundation's early childhood enrichment and after-school programs. This position will help the organization by providing enrichment services for children ranging from 3-12 years old. Candidate MUST be available to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 1:00-6:15 PM Monday, Tuesdays, And Fridays, and from 12:30 PM-6:15 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays. However, willingness to work some weekend events may be required on an as needed basis.

Job responsibilities of the Children's Resource Center Aide include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting children with homework in the core areas of language arts and mathematics
  • Assisting with the development, implementation and supervision of programs to serve at-risk children ages 3-12
  • Creating activities and lesson plans for daily Childhood Enrichment Programs
  • Ensuring programs are age-appropriate and address children's developmental needs
  • Tracking program services for the purposes of data collection and proof of desired program outcomes
  • Provide direct supervision of children at on-site and off-site activities
  • Continually update resources for activities and lesson plans
  • Evaluate children's programs to provide maximum effectiveness
  • Track behavior of children enrolled in programs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in working with at-risk youth in after-school or educational setting
  • Associates Degree in Social Sciences, Human Services, or Child Development. Bachelor's Degree highly preferred.
  • An understanding of trauma and its impact on the development of the child
  • Basic knowledge of typical and atypical child development
  • Knowledge of basic procedures for child abuse reporting
  • A basic understanding of core elementary academic subjects (language arts, mathematics)
  • Proven ability to meet challenging deadlines
  • Proven ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Proven ability to stay calm and focused when working under stressful situations
  • Proven strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create correspondences with correct grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish REQUIRED

    Pay begins at 14.00/hour. Full Time Position
